Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Brilliance Direct LLC, doing business as "Métier" ("Métier," "we," "us," "our"), collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with the Métier software service, the websites at getmetier.com, and related applications (together, the "Service"). The Service is offered to customers in the United States.

1. Two roles: data about you, and data you upload

Métier handles information in two distinct capacities, and your rights depend on which applies:

• Account & usage data (we are the "controller"/"business"). Information about the businesses and individual users who subscribe to and use Métier. This Policy governs it.
• Customer Data (we are the "processor"/"service provider"). Records you create or import about your own customers and contacts — names, business contact details, purchase/visit/quote history, notes, and the content of email messages you send and receive through the Service. We process this only on your behalf and under your instructions; you control it.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

• Account information: name, email, business name, role, assigned territory, and login credentials. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider; we do not store them in readable form.
• Billing information: subscription plan, status, and history. Payment-card details are collected and stored by Stripe, not by us; we receive limited information such as billing status, card last-four, and processor identifiers.
• Customer Data you enter or import: the account, contact, visit, quotation, order, task, appointment, and message records you add to your workspace.
• Communications: support messages and feedback you provide.

Information collected automatically

• Usage & log data: actions taken, timestamps, and diagnostic/error logs needed to operate and secure the Service.
• Device & approximate location: basic device/browser information, and approximate location derived from your device only when you use map or route features.
• Cookies & local storage: see Section 6.

Information from connected email accounts (Gmail / Microsoft)

If a user connects a Google (Gmail) or Microsoft (Outlook) mailbox, Métier accesses that mailbox only to the extent needed to power the features the user enables: sending from the user's own address, and reading replies to messages the user sent through Métier so they appear in the matching customer conversation. We request the minimum scopes required and do not read the user's wider inbox. See Section 5.

3. How we use information

• To provide, operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service and your workspace.
• To create accounts, authenticate users, and manage roles and permissions.
• To process subscriptions and payments and manage the billing lifecycle.
• To generate the AI-assisted features you request (see our AI Disclosure).
• To send transactional and service messages (e.g., password resets and, if enabled, daily briefs).
• To provide support, prevent fraud and abuse, address security and technical issues, comply with law, and enforce our Terms.

We do not sell your personal information or Customer Data, do not use Customer Data to train AI models, and do not serve third-party advertising in the Service.

4. How we share information

• Service providers (subprocessors) who host and operate the Service under contract and on our instructions (table below).
• Within your workspace, per the roles and permissions you configure. The content of a rep's connected mailbox (synced replies) is private to that rep and is not visible to managers or owners, enforced at the database level.
• At your direction, e.g., when you send email through the Service or connect a third-party account.
• Legal & safety, to comply with law or protect rights, safety, and property.
• Business transfers, in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale, subject to this Policy.

5. Connected email accounts & Google/Microsoft data

What we access and why

When a user connects Gmail, Métier requests the gmail.modify scope (send + read/label, no permanent delete). For Microsoft, Métier requests Mail.Send and Mail.ReadWrite. We use this access solely to (a) send messages the user composes from their own address, and (b) read replies to messages the user sent through Métier, so they surface in the matching customer conversation and can be summarized by the AI features the user enables. We do not access messages unrelated to conversations the user started through Métier, and we never permanently delete a user's mail.

Google API Services — Limited Use

Métier's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide and improve the user-facing features described above; is not transferred or sold to third parties except as necessary to provide those features or as required by law; is not used for advertising; and is not used to train generalized AI/ML models.

Microsoft Graph

Our use of the Microsoft Graph API is subject to the Microsoft APIs Terms of Use and Microsoft's Privacy Statement. Data accessed through Microsoft Graph is used only to provide the same user-facing features, on the same limited-use basis.

A user may disconnect a mailbox at any time in the Service, revoking access going forward, and may also revoke access from their Google Account or Microsoft account security settings.

6. Cookies & local storage

We use strictly necessary cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and operate core features (for example, storing a rep's writing-style samples on their device to personalize AI drafts). We do not use analytics or advertising cookies. You can control cookies in your browser; disabling strictly necessary cookies may break the Service.

7. Data retention

• Account & Customer Data: kept while your subscription is active. After cancellation or termination, we retain it for 90 days so you can reactivate or export it, after which it is deleted or anonymized, except where longer retention is required by law.
• Billing records: retained as required by law (generally up to 7 years).
• Logs: retained for up to 90 days.
• Connected-mailbox content (synced replies): kept while the workspace is active or until the user disconnects/deletes it.

8. How we protect information

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the data, including encryption in transit, access controls, row-level security isolating each workspace, and provider-side encryption at rest. A rep's connected-mailbox content is restricted to that rep at the database level. No method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify affected customers without undue delay and as required by applicable law.

9. Your rights & choices

How privacy rights work in Métier depends on the two roles described in Section 1.

• Customer Data (records about your own clients): we act as a service provider/processor and handle this data only on your instructions. If one of your clients asks to access or delete their information, that request should be directed to you, the business that controls it; we will support you in responding.
• Account data (about you, our subscriber): you may access and correct most of it directly in the Service, and you may request a copy or deletion by contacting us at [email protected].
• Email briefs: optional; turn them off in your profile anytime.
• Disconnecting accounts: disconnect Gmail/Microsoft anytime in the Service.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you may have rights to know, access, delete, and correct personal information we hold about you as our subscriber, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing." We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. To make a request, contact [email protected]; we will verify your request against the account information we hold before responding. Where we act as a service provider for Customer Data, requests from your clients should be directed to you.

Other U.S. states

Residents of other U.S. states may have similar privacy rights under their state laws. If so, contact us at [email protected] and we will respond as required by applicable law.

10. Children's privacy

Métier is a business tool for businesses and their authorized personnel. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. International users & data transfers

The Service is offered to customers in the United States and is operated from, and processes data in, the United States. It is not intended for use by individuals located outside the United States. If you are located outside the United States, please do not use the Service.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice by email or in-app notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
